Vermont Juniors State Champion Qualifier September 1st 2007
The Tournament started at 8:00am at the Chimney point launch and all 18 juniors were headed South of the Bridge with a 20-25mph wind at their backs.
I boated for two very good-natured Boys ,Casey Elmer and Matt Stanislas. Casey picked up two keepers at our fourth stop, Matt had several bites but the fish were not willing to commit to a fight.
While the Boys were out fishing, Shelley was busy on shore getting pizzas, grinders and drinks.
She had everything ready for all of us including parents and siblings for when we returned at 2:00pm.
We ate and compared fishing stories and then the weigh-in started.
Bob Crino and
For the 11-14 age group, Ben Seaman brought in 4 bass for a total of 8.69 lbs and for the 15-18 age group, Daniel Infurna brought in a 5 bass limit for 12.06 lbs. Their boater John Barnes, seems to be making a habit of producing winners each year. I talked to Him after and He said, I don’t know what it is, when I do it for someone else I just relax.
Daniels fish came slow but He stuck with an evolution jig (rusty craw) smeared with mega strike.
Ben’s fish came in schools; He said a black tube with blue fleck and a gray senko rigged weed less were his best lures.
I would like to Thank Shelley Austin for Her hard work on preparing weigh-in slips, picking up prizes, drinks, food and certificates. Also Steve Lipman for producing the awards and donating them, and to all the Men that boated for the Boys. Good Luck in South Carolina to Daniel and Ben.
