Juniors State Championship Tournament 2010

Mallets Bay was the location for this year’s event and the weather was warm, sunny with a brisk south west wind.

Eight boats and sixteen anglers were trying to get the best five bass limits possible to secure a spot in the national tournament for next year in Hot Springs Arkansas and of course earn the title of state champion.

After setting up tent and tables and weigh-in equipment Bob, Ben, Erin, Shelley and I went for breakfast and Mr. Welch was trying his luck in the Winooski River.

Pizza’s and subs were ordered and supplies were picked up and Shelley had all the raffle prizes arranged so each got some tackle a hat and goodies.

Bob and Ben returned and set up the weigh-in station to accommodate the crowd and food was picked up from the New York Pizza Oven just in time for the guys that were coming back.

We filled our bellies and weighed in the fish with Bradley Roy getting lunker Small mouth (4.35lbs) and Dylan Welch getting lunker large mouth (4.56lbs).

The 11-14 age Champion is Ben Seaman with 4.97 lbs and the 15-18 age Champion is Lucas Cadieux with 10.12 lbs. Congratulations and keep practicing for next year!

After the raffle prizes were given and pictures were taken the boys were busy telling their details of the day to one another and I did not see a frown in the group.

Thanks to the boaters Norm, Frank, Randy, Tom, Larry, Ron, Murray and Skip. Thanks to the TBF for providing the prizes and the format for Kids to experience, most likely, life changing events like the National Guard Junior World Nationals.

Special thanks to Gary Nesty (Solar Bat sunglasses) for the fund raising program that provides plane tickets and transportation to get families to the Nationals.
